Unity State to screen unqualified civil servants
BENTIU, Dec 2 (Gurtong) - Unity State Government under directions of Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS), will set up a civil servants screening programme later this week to cut out unqualified candidates that occupy elevated posts in government.

State authorities will give civil servants an examination and re-check their qualifications said an official.
“Over employment is very high and instances of less qualified staff occupying higher posts is very evident. … Staff with the right qualification are placed in the lower level in the Government offices in the state’’ said Peter Athiey, Director General for Public Service.
“This should be the start of the measures we have put in place to streamline the workforce and make it lean as well as effective and efficient. We will cover every department of every Ministry and it begins today with the Ministry of Local Government,” he added.
