Subject: Cde Daniel Awet Akot Did not do interview nor gave out any information on TGoNU Ministerial Nominees

Allegations that Cde Daniel Awet Akot has Leaked the List of Ministerial Nominees is false, malicious and a Politically Motivated smear by Shadowy Characters; It has come to our attention that in the online news article carried in the African Press of February 17, 2016 and authored by a certain Salva Wani, it was alleged that the SPLM Government in Juba had revealed the names of the Ministers to be in the Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU). The source of the information was alleged to be Cde Daniel Awet Akot, Senior Member of the SPLM Political Bureau and one of the most Successful SPLA Zonal Commanders and its member of the Politico-Military High Command during the 21 years war of liberation against the then successive Sudanese governments. The office of Cde Daniel Awet is dismayed and perplexed by audacity of these cheap propaganda meant to create mistrust and suspicion within the top echelon of the ruling party.

Cde Daniel is and has always been part of the inner circles of the SPLM and quite a custodian or privy to many of the Liberation Movement turned ruling party’s policy direction documents since the liberation days. Hence there is no ground whatsoever for the Senior Member of the Political Bureau to let the cat out of the bag while he is very much aware of and used to the hierarchy of things in the party and government. The allegations are malicious and ill-intended against the SPLM leader! The pattern of the story is quite clearly inconsistent with the known facts within the SPLM and the glaring shallowness of the story is unwittingly exposed in the way names of individuals as well as regional or state representation is portrayed in the alleged list of would be ministers. For example, in a small list of 16 Ministers representing government’s side, Jonglei Sub-region is having 6 Ministers which is in sharp contrast with envisioned inclusiveness of the different parts of the country into the government.

Therefore, the office of Cde Daniel Awet Akot would like to categorically dispute the alleged leakage as false, malicious and politically motivated by the shadowy characters behind the story. We challenge the so called African Press and its authors to come out clearly and identify how, where and when exactly was Cde Daniel Awet given the interview which culminated into the story on their pages!! Otherwise the office of Cde Daniel Awet call upon the public and SPLM members to disregard the story and treat it as another wishful thinking among the shadowy characters who specializes in the faculty of lies and smear propaganda against senior members of the government and ruling Party.

 Signed,

Cde Deng M. Koch,

Office of Cde Daniel Awet Akot,

Senior Member of the SPLM Political Bureau and Historical Member of the SPLM/SPLA’s Politico-Military High Command
