Nile FC beats Generation in Semis

The fans of the Nile FC were in Jubilation at the Freedom Square in Rumbek when their team played a one-nil game against their opponent in a hotly contested match. The match organized by the Sudan Radio Service (Sudan Radio Service) as a publicity event, was so vibrant with both the young and old cheering their respective teams.

The event also included a volleyball match, traditional dances, a tug-of-war contest, a soda drinking competition and a 100meter sprint. The winners are yet to be awarded their trophies. There are prizes to be given out including radio-sets, t-shirts and various assortments of gifts. All by the courtesy of SRS.

The final will be held on the 30th and will be attended by government officials and invited guests from various NGOs. The station sponsored The Abyei jazz Band who provided the entertainment throughout the day’s of the event and the band’s presence added excitement to an already cheerful crowd that the security personnel were overwhelmed.

The Sudan Radio Service is a multi-lingual station broadcasting in nine Sudanese languages. It is a project of Education Development Center (EDC) that is a US non-governmental organization that specializes in distance learning. EDC is supported by the United States Agency for international Development (USAID).
