President Kiir Appoints 10 Advisors For TGoNU

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday issued a Republican Decree for the appointment of 10 advisors of the Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU).

JUBA, 05 May 2016 [Gurtong]- In a decree read out on the state owned television, SSTV, Kiir appointed Daniel Awet Akot for Military Affairs, Tor Deng Mawien for Decentralization and Intergovernmental Linkages and Tut Kew Gatluak for Security Affairs.

Former Minister of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), Dr. John Gai Yoh becomes the Educational Affairs advisor in the ministry given to SPLM-IO headed by Prof. Adwok Nyaba.

Aggrey Tisa Sabuni and Lawrence Korbandy retained their former positions as the Economic Affairs and Legal Affairs advisors respectively.

Dr Anne Itto becomes the Agriculture and Food Security advisor while the former Governor of the defunct Central Equatoria State, Clement Wani Konga gets Special Affairs.

South Sudan Islamic Council Secretary General, Tahir Bior Abdalla Ajak becomes the advisor on Religious Affairs and Government Chief Negotiator, Nhial Deng Nhial takes senior advisor and Presidential Envoy position.

The decree came into force on Wednesday 04th May 2016.

The appointment of the 10 advisors comes after the inauguration of the TGoNU on 28th April 2016 after the arrival of the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny.
