Wani Says “Plotters Behind Yei’s Leaflets”

(Nairobi 24th, Oct. 2004)

The SPLM/A has called for peace and unity to prevail among South Sudanese. This is against the backdrop of the recent anonymous leaflets distributed in Yei, which urged non-Equatorain to leave the area or face the wrath.

Also, a “retaliatory letter” was reportedly circulated in Nairobi warning Equatorians of dire consequences if any disturbances took place in Yei. Commentators dismissed both unsigned documents as “fakes” intended to cause disunity among Southerners. The SPLM administration promised to investigate the incident and bring perpetrators to book.

The SPLM/A Secretary General, Cdr. James Wani, has called for a one-day conference in the Methodist Guest House in Nairobi to discuss the issue. He said that no such feelings of animosity among Southerners exist if ever expressed.

He went on to say that the few ‘spoilers’ planted by our enemies are behind the move. He urged Southerners to be strong and expose such things.
