BOR, June 14, 2016 [Gurtong] – According to the Director of Bor airport, Kuot John Akech, the aircraft that belongs to a national company called Coco crashed due to a mechanical challenge.

He also said that upon landing the aircraft slid off the runway leaving the wings of the aircraft to touch down.

“It reached down well but unfortunately the left gear was going on one side so it was not rolling. Then it went off the runway to the sides where part of the wing was touching down and it crashed at that time like that. There were three crew members in the aircraft,” Kuot John said.

Kuot said an investigation into what exactly happened is underway.

The plane had arrived without luggage as it was meant to transport WFP load from Bor to Malakal.

The aircraft had three crew members on board when it crash landed, however no casualties were reported.
