Wanyjok FC In Awei East Qualifies For South Sudan Cup

The South Sudan cup qualifying match in Aweil East State ended on Saturday with Wanyjok Football club winning against Mabil FC at Malualkhon in the State capital.

AWEIL EAST, 19 June, 2016 [Gurtong]- Among those who were present during the match were the Deputy Governor and other officials.

Thousands of spectators attended the match which ended in 2-1 in favour of Wanyjok.
In the first half of the match, striker Majok Kuot scored the first goal for Wanyjok FC in the 37th minute which overwhelmed the crowd with cheers and joys.

Meanwhile, the opponents responded within 10 minutes when Ngor Arol Maker equalized for Mabil FC in the 47th minute of the game. 

As Mabil FC fans were chanting songs for celebrations hoping to go for a penalty kick as they were confident of their goalkeeper, it didn’t take long when their expectations were shattered after Teng Majok Diing scored yet another goal for Wanyjok football club.

Teng who is also nicknamed as Nito picked an out numbered assist from his teammate Majok Kuot when he saw him standing unmarked.

Wanjok Football Club will go to Wau in July for the South Sudan Cup Competition.

The Minister of Information Youth and Sport, William Ater Lual congratulated both teams and asked them to kee the name of the State on top in terms of football.

“This is finished, but you have another task and duty as a club to accomplish. Winning team in the State will go to Wau. It is the beginning and other situations which need you to play with confidence is not yet touched” he said.

William discouraged harmful practices the youth are indulging in including drinking of alcohol which will not help in nurturing their talents.

“As the minister of Sport and other things, I want to assure you that we are standing with you. Government will mobilize the funds and support the sports in the State, but stop doing those things which reduce your energy as players, heavy drinking and other harmful practices like smoking will never help you but destroy you in turn” he said.
