Integration Of SPLA-IO Forces Underway In Unity State

The process of integration of SPLA-IO forces under the First Vice President Taban Deng Gai in to the national army has started in Northern Liech State of former Unity the spokesperson of the SPLA IO said on Tuesday.

UNITY STATE, 11 October 2017 [Gurtong]-The re-integration or amalgamation process is well underway for SPLA-IO forces into the national army in Northern Liech State,” Col. Dickson Gatluak said in a press statement.

He said eight generals including Lt. Gen.Peter Dor Manjur Gatluak, Major Gen. Karlo Kuol Ruai, Major Gen. William Gueh Duop, Major Gen. Micheal Makal Kuol Deng, Major Gen. David Joang Puk, Major Gen. Stephen Bol Puok Bur, Major Gen. Peter Toar Nyuel, and Major Gen. Mayiel Thai Wuor Naam from the SPLA-IO with their infantry forces will soon be taking part in military parade after being re-integrated.

The SPLA spokesman said the move is going to bring “diversity within the national army to work for a common purpose” of defending the country and its citizens.

“This re-integration exercise will also bring the change in the warring communities and indeed military bases in the whole country,” Gatluak said.

He said the SPLM/A-IO under the leadership of Gen.Taban Deng Gai mark this first phase “as an important milestone in the country's army.”

“Such breakthrough will bring an equality of treatment and opportunity for all persons in the armed services without regards to tribe or region,” he said.
