Suzanne Jambo, who previously served as the Secretary for Foreign Relation’s Affairs of the South Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) has officially announce her candidacy for Presidency in the 2018 general election in the country.

JUBA, October 26, 2017 – Before becoming Secretary for Foreign Relation’s Affairs of the SPLM, Jambo was a human rights and civil society activist in 2010.

She has also worked with indigenous NGOs in Southern Sudan focusing onthe improvement of organizational structures and capacity building.

She has often been involved with several Sudanese women’s organizations in their efforts to integrate women-friendly provisions into international, regional and local human rights programs.

Suzanne is the founder of the New Sudanese Indigenous Network, an umbrella body organization which works with 20 local Sudanese NGOs to address issues like women’s rights, post-conflict strategies, human rights, and participatory governance.

“Being from South Sudan, I am a direct victim of the war. I have seen a lot of suffering, particularly among women. I hate to see women being victimized. I really hate to see that. But it’s a reality and it’s happening,” states Jambo.

Jambo worked as a negotiator for the IGAD-facilitated peace process from 1998 until 2005, when the Sudan Comprehensive Peace Agreement was ratified to end the 21 years civil war in the country.

She has aslo worked with Amnesty International, the UN World Food Programme and the UN Children’s Fund. Suzanne is the author of the book “Overcoming Gender Conflict and Bias:  The Case of New Sudanese Women”.

Jambo is a University graduate in International Public Law at the University of Buckingham.

“I believe that I have the characters of leadership and strength through my ability and courage from my compatriots, comrades in the SPLM party to lead the nation,” said Jambo.

“I have an obsession for South Sudan, besides my ability such as programs and vision of my party SPLM, so I believe that I can deliver whatever this country wants to be done to its people,” said.
