NSS Member Killed In Wau

A member of the National Security Service was last week on Thursday shot dead by an unknown gunman in Wau town.

A lady was also wounded during the time the shoot-out was carried out.

The incident happened at 8:10 pm at Kalbario residential area a day after an SPLA officer shot dead two people in Nazareth market in Wau town.

The motives behind the rampant killings have not yet been established.

Last week, a civilian identified as Khamis Suleiman was also killed along Bessilia- Bagari road while collecting grass.

Meanwhile, the Spokesman for the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) Brigadier General Lul Ruai Koang has said that an SPLA allegedly accused of carrying out a deadly shoot out on civilians in Wau last week has been apprehended.

According to the army spokesman, the suspect was arrested by a joint security operation targeting him a day after he allegedly opened fire killing a man and a woman at Nazareth market in Wau town.

The suspect is identified as Madut Akol who deserted his position from the SPLA Division six.

“The culprit was successfully hunted down last week and arrested by lead forces from infantry division and would be soon arraigned for a court martial for trial,” said Koang.
