Resolutions of the Otuho Peace and Reconciliation Conference

 Preamble

We the Otuho People from Torit County and the neighboring Counties of Ikoto and LOPA, meeting in Hiyala Payam from 20th  - 23rd February 2008:

• Aware of the need for the unity of the people of Southern Sudan, under the able leadership of H.E General Salva Kiir Mayardit, First Vice President of the Sudan, and President of the Government of Southern Sudan;

• Recognizing the efforts and commitment of the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State Brigadier General Aloiso Emor Ojetuk to promote peace and stability throughout the State;
 
• Cognizant of the patriotism of our people and their historical role and contribution to the liberation and freedom of our people since 1955;

• Appreciating the commitment by the people of Southern Sudan of Otuho’s contribution in the realization of democracy, justice and equality for the people of South Sudan, and other marginalized people of the Sudan;

• Considering the importance of addressing our inter-tribal conflicts through peaceful means;
