TORIT, 22 December 2009 (Gurtong) – He said a suspect has been arrested and is being interrogated after which he will be arraigned in court soon.

Colonel Banal was reacting to a recent attack on a lorry that was ferrying empty crates to Uganda.

He identified the suspect as Bakol James, a resident of Seretenya, adding that a massive manhunt has been launched for the other suspects who are still at large.

“The government will not tolerate such people who intentionally plot to create disunity between Ugandan and South Sudan”, he said.

He emphasised that Uganda and South Sudan have lived in harmony for a long time and have assisted each other in bad times, adding that trade and diplomatic relations between the two should be strengthened.

Meanwhile Yei town residents have been advised to prioritise their personal security as well as their property during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

The criminal investigations officer at Yei Police Station Lubari Manasse told local radio, Spirit FM, that there is an increase in crime in the town  involving armed robberies, house break ins and motorcycle thefts.

He called upon the residents to immediately report any suspected criminal behavior to the authorities.
