NBA-Former Sudanese Basketbal Star Bol Dies at 47

Manute Bol, the dominant shot blocker from Sudan who played in the NBA for 10 seasons, died on Saturday at the age of 47.

NEW YORK June 19 (Reuters) - A spokeswoman for the University of Virginia Medical Center told Reuters he had died but would not disclose the cause of death. According to media reports he was being treated at the Medical Center for severe kidney trouble and a painful skin condition.

Bol, who played for Washington, Golden State, Philadelphia and Miami, finished his career in 1995 in second place on the all-time blocks per game list with 3.3.

The 7-foot-7 center was one of the tallest players in the NBA. When his career ended he became involved in charity work for Sudan.

"He was a person who was continually giving of himself through his generosity and humanitarian efforts in order to make the world around him a much better place," Philadelphia 76ers president and general manager Ed Stefanski said in a statement.

I would like to express my sadness and sorrows the family of Manut Bol who lost his live some days ago. Nothing much I can say because he already gone just be strong and take courage God of goodness will bring his mercy upon you.
To Manut, I can only say "your journey just begun" Let us not think of him as he gone away.

We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new,
we thought about you yesterday and days before that too.

We think of you in silence, we often speak your name,
now all we have are memoies and your picture in a frame.

Some may think you are forgoten though on earth you are no more,
but in our memory you are with us as you always were before.

Amillion times we have thought of you, amillion times we have cried,
if love could have saved you, you would have never died.

It broke our hearts to lose you. but you did not go alone,
part of us went with you on the day God called you.

You will remain alive in our hearts forever,

My Almihty God rest your pure soul in peace.
