Lakes State Assembly Member Laid to Rest
The late Lakes State Legislative Assembly member Honourable Zakaria Chol Gideon who died on July 29 was laid to rest last Friday at Malualbab residential area in Rumbek town.

JUBA, 10 August 2010 (Gurtong) – The burial of the late Lakes State Legislative Assembly member who represented Akot geographical constituency in the SPLM party list was attended by key Government of Southern Sudan and Lakes State government officials led by the Lakes State Governor Engineer Chol Tong Mayay.
His burial had been delayed awaiting the arrival of his wife and children who reside in London in the United Kingdom.
Thousands of Lakes State residents jammed the roads leading to the State Legislative Assembly where the late Chol’s body was first taken before being taken to the Holy Family Cathedral Church followed by his burial.
Governor Mayay described the late Chol’s death as a great loss but said he will be remembered for his tireless efforts in improving laws in Lakes State parliament.
He also commended his immense contribution to the Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement (SPLM) and his quest for a new Sudan.
The late Chol was born in 1957 and is survived by a widow and three children.
