TORIT, 11 October 2010 (Gurtong) – Led by Barsabas Efuk Gallas, the group made up of students from Egyptian universities and higher institutions of learning visited Central Equatoria, Eastern Equatoria and Western Equatoria states where they met with various leaders and discussed issues affecting their studies abroad.

They also sought to establish improved relations, coordination and linkages between themselves and their respective state governments.

The students also presented their grievances such as lack of adequate financial support.

The students’ secretary general Jacob Lado Wuryeng called for government intervention in the allocation of scholarships and other monetary allowances to the students.

He said some students who had been denied scholarships and other funding opportunities have resorted to casual jobs to keep them in school.

Those in the delegation included Lomini Mathias Anthony from Eastern Equatoria State who is also an advisor to the Association and Jackson Juma Eliasapa from Western Equatoria State who is also the group’s Finance Secretary.

The tour concluded with a courtesy call on the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly Speaker Wani Igga, who called for reconciliation amongst ethnic communities in South Sudan.
