Press Release: Padang Community Congratulates Sudan Government for the Successful Referendum.

The Padang International Federation Union( PIFU) in North America is pleased to take this opportunity to congratulates both the South and North Sudan governments for having conducted and reached a successful referendum.

PIFU is wholeheartedly grateful to salute and appreciate both the SPLM and NCP partisan leaderships , as co-signatories for their collective cooperation and endeavors to have facilitated a peaceful and orderly referendum voting.

PIFU would also like to recognize and acknowledge the unprecedented referendum voting turnouts being demonstrated by our fellow southerner citizens.

PIFU is magnificently glorified to praise South Sudanese Communities for the communal efforts they have shown to thrust out the massive voters and stunned the whole world with 98% referendum votes.

It is a historic legacy made by our citizens and leaders. PIFU does commends the team works of both our southern citizens and the Sudan government.

Moreover , the collaborative solidarity and patience demonstrated by our president, Omar Hussein Al Beshir of Sudan, and GOSS President, Salva Kiir Mayardit have been optimal and crucial to the eventual success of South Sudan secession.

As a patriotic and loyal community to the would-be new African nation, we are celebratory and triumphant over the positive outcome and the realization of the self-determination for Southerners.

We also look forward as Padang community and Southerners to see the recognition of the Republic of South Sudan by the International Communities and regional bodies.

As the referendum poll has proven our votes with overwhelming authenticity and its result has been finally approved by the Sudan president, we the citizens believe the world will certainly embrace our fledgling nation with unquestionable sovereignty around the globe without reservation.

Because , we the citizens have spoken indisputably through referendum ballots, we are looking forward to see the Republic of South Sudan (ROSS) to establish viable , inclusive, harmonious, unified , sustainable and democratic institutions that would pioneer and build the new nation based on rules of law, constitution, deliver basic services and economic establishment.

Conclusively, PIFU would like to appeal to both the governments of Republic of South Sudan and Government of North Sudan, to continue to maintain the cooperative spirit of partnership to completely implement the remaining contentious issues of Abyei and border demarcation as well as other CPA stipulated protocols such as public consultations for both Nuba Mt and Blue Nile.

Doing so as recommended would surely bridge perpetual bilateral economic and trade relations with both South and North Sudan in the future.

So, Mr. presidents of both South and North Sudan, PIFU anticipates to see both of you to fulfill your sincere and honest pledges with accountability and transparency, specifically on the promises of Abyei and border demarcation.

Dear Mr. President, On behave of Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society Head Office in Western Canada, Southern Sudanese Community members in Western Canada in particular and Canada at large, and on my own behave, I am here to acknowledge and congratulate:

The Government of Southern Sudan under His Excellency and Honourable Vice President of Sudan and the President of Southern Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit Southern Sudan Referendum Taskforce under His Excellency and Honourable Dr. Riek Machaar, the Vice President of Southern Sudan Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly under his Excellency and Honourable James Wani Igga, the chairman of Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly and the speaker of the August House The two peace partners, the South Sudan Liberation Movement [SPLM], and National Congress Party [NCP] Southern Sudan Referendum Commission [SSRC] Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau [SSRB] International Organization for Immigration [IOM] United Nations & All Non-Governmental Organizations and Agencies All Observer Organizations especially African Union, Jimmy Carter Center, European Union, Arab League, and all other independent observers Government of Southern Sudan Liaison Office in Canada under the leadership of most honourable Joseph Malok Southern Sudanese Civil Society Organizations all over the Globe Southern Sudanese Community in Diaspora and particularly in Canada The Southern Sudanese citizens, brothers and sisters in uniform, Southern Sudanese Regular Armed Forces [S.P.L.A], Police Armed Forces, Women’s Associations, Youth Associations, Religious Organizations and Churches, SPLA and Anya Anya Veterans, and all ordinary citizens of Southern Sudan For the preparation, organization, Peaceful, transparency and successful of Southern Sudan Referendum which resulted with the secession and the independency of Southern Sudan.

It is widely acknowledged that the process has been positively conducted and it met the standard required by the internal communities.

The organization and the conduct of the Referendum have shown the whole world how democratic the people of Southern Sudan and how democratic Southern Sudan will be. Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society strongly believes that the current administration under his Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit the Vice President of Sudan and the President of Southern Sudan, Dr. Riek Machaar, the Vice President of Southern Sudan, and James Wani Igga the chairman of Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly and the speaker of the August House won’t fail the people of Southern Sudan from reaching to their final destination and to fulfill the dream of our fallen heroes and heroines. Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society have been a strong advocate of the vision of the people of Southern Sudan for their full independence from Northern Sudan.

This was strongly shown during the campaign for out of country for registrations and voting here in Canada. Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society was campaigning for people to come out and register and vote, carrying civic education to population of Southern Sudan here in Calgary. Though it is well known here in Calgary that few individuals were anti registration and voting due to possible fear that their votes may not reach to the indeed destination, Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society did not leave any stone un turn and through our dedicated members and supporters we were able to get 96.2 turn out and 97.5 votes for secession.

Thus, Comprehensive Peace Agreement articulated that Unity be making attractive but NCP failed to fulfil this part of the agreement. Since unity could not be made attractive for the people of the South under the current system, Southern independence was the projected and just outcome of the referendum. Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society believes that the result of the Referendum and the secession of Southern Sudan won’t be a great surprise to our brothers and sisters in Khartoum but, it is the reflection of long standing grievances, justice, and equality which the regime in Khartoum denied for decades. SSCCS believes that, the regime in Khartoum will revise the way how it handle and treat important elements such as liberty, equality, human right, and other elements which keep the society united.

Your excellence, my organization have a believe that your government in the new nation will be facing with many Challenges be it governance, racial, ethnic, religious or cultural diversity but we fully put our trust upon you since you are able to lead us to our promise land there will be nothing hard on your way of leadership in our new nation to come July 9th 2011. Your style of leadership will be an example in the entire continent of Africa that shall deliver equality for all ethnic groups; promotion of democracy; respect for all human rights and fundamental freedoms; pursuit of fair distribution of resources, public services, employment opportunities Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society believes that the first phase of the CPA is successfully completed though ongoing discussions on the Abyie Referendum and the public consultation on Nuba Mountains and Southern Blue Nile are still in deadlock. SSCCS believes that, the two key peace partners, the S.P.L.M and NCP with the help from other potential stakeholders will still continue dialogue in the same spirit. Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society believes that the Government of Southern Sudan and the S.P.L.M will still maintaining the original vision of fighting for the right of all people in Sudan especially the right of our brothers and sisters from Southern Blue Nile, the Nuba Mountains, and the people of Darfur as well.

Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society believes that the Government of Southern Sudan will systematically adapt and implement measures that will address most immediate problems such as internal insecurity, lack of infrastructures, lack of education, lack of sanitation, clean water, general health problems, and systematic corruption just to mention the few. We believe that the new nation will create an atmosphere and programs that will attract its citizens living abroad and the international communities to go and contribute to help build the new country.

Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society believes that the birth of new nation won’t be the end of sufferings or complete freedom from want but, the beginning of services that require unity, wisdom, determination, trustworthiness, and cooperation. Taking into consideration all the above-mentioned challenges and solutions, we hope that Southern Sudan will emerge as the first democratic and peaceful country on the Africa continent and this forever will go down to the history of Southern Sudan and particularly to those few individual leaders who facilitated, administrated, and put into action what they believed would service the best interest of the general public of Southern Sudanese in particular and the whole country and the world in general In conclusion, SSCCs would like to salute all our heroes and heroines starting with our great hero and former commander –in – Chief and the Chairman of S.P.L.M / A Dr. John Garang De Mabior and all brothers and sisters who had lost their lives during the liberation war. They have lost their lives but their dream still alive and fulfilled. Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society is here to acknowledge the effort and the contribution of our fathers, and mothers who had fought the first war during the Anya nya 1 especially former Major General Joseph Lagu, the current Senior Advisor to President of Southern Sudan.

The liberation war fought by SPLA and the Referendum is the continuation of their unfinished national business. God bless you and our beloved nation of Republic of Southern Sudan. Long live Our President His Excellence Silver Kiir Long Live Vice President His Excellence Raik Machar Long Live Our Speaker His Excellence James Wani Iga Thanks Natalina Yoll Chief Coordinator Southern Sudanese Canadian Civil Society in Calgary and Area.
