South Sudanese youth from Rumbek, Lakes County living in Sydney, Australia have formed an association to enhance co-existence and development.

RUMBEK, 10 August 10, 2011 (Gurtong) - The association that was set up on 16 July has four females in its top leadership out of the 12 officials.

It is also comprised of a council of states that has a membership of four.

Speaking when he unveiled the new officials yesterday, the association chairman Magang Chol Mathei said the body will not only seek to promote peace amongst the youth in Australia but will also act as a link between the youth in the Diaspora and South Sudan.

“We aspire to initiate and promote development back home through this association like construction of schools using resources mobilized here”, he said.

Other officials of the group are the Vice Chairman Peter Panyar Mabor, Secretary General Maker Aliir Maluach, Deputy Secretary Laat Mathiang Bol, Finance Secretary Marial Mangar Majak and the Secretary for Information Maker Makur Adut.

Others are the Deputy Secretary of Information Susana Martin Monykuc, Secretary of Cultural Affairs Mabor Maker Mabor, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Gai Dut Chawak, Communication Officer Hellena Nyijok Machut and the Secretary of Sports and Community Welfare Services Nyanadong Malel Magol.

The Council members include the Chairperson Alam Mathiang Machot, the Vice Chairperson Alfred Aleyou Makur, the Secretary General Jima Makur Maguen and the Deputy Secretary Thon Malou Mayom.
