TORIT, 03 November 2011 [Gurtong] –The team that was commissioned by the Eastern Equatoria State Parliamentary caucus from the National Assembly and the Council of States in Juba a week ago is led by the National Assembly member Caesar Baye Loyalala.

The team met the Eastern Equatoria State Governor over the weekend after which it headed to Magwi County on Monday for the site visit.

The team comprises of former Eastern Equatoria State Education Minister Professor Francis Ben Ataba who currently serves as MP in the National Legislative Assembly, National Legislative Assembly members Grace Abalang and Henry Dillang Odwar and Marko Lokale Lopukei from the Council of States.

Loyalala told the press after meeting the Deputy State Governor and State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement Nartisio Loluke that besides getting views of the state leaders at the executive level, the team resolved to visit the ground for first-hand information on the conflict.

“We will compile a report which we will present to the Eastern Equatoria State Parliamentary caucus for further action”, he said.

An inter-church team that is also spearheading efforts to unite the warring communities arrived in Torit from Juba yesterday.

The team comprises of Emeritus Retired Bishop Paride Taban who comes from the Madi ethnic community in Magwi County.

The delegation left Torit for Magwi yesterday morning to hold a peace and reconciliation conference.

It It is good that the Acholi-Madi confict is at last going to be investigated by a join parliamentary fact finding team. The community alone can not solve such a sentive issue such as local border issues and especially the presents of the internally displaced persons from Bor. The Acholi and the Madi have lived together for years without any problems. What has created the unrest is the IDPS and the recent law that state that the land belongs to the community.

Land the claims by Madi of Acholilands as Opari,Owiny ki bul, Ame,winyo Olwonga and others like pageri are historical facts speak for themselves that these land belong to the Acholi. And the other issue is that the Madi are looking for their own county. How many Counties shall we have in the whole country if each and every tribe is looking for its own county?.

I hope the fact finding team will come out with a lasting solution to the problem once and for all. We need peace in the entire country of South Sudan.

We hope this fact finding committee would not keep it report secret like the former committee which kept quite. People are trying to write a new history for South Sudan. Madi and Acholi know their historical border prior to colonialism till independence of Sudan. Opari, Owiny Ki Bul, Ame, Pageri, Ayi (Kit) are the historical places of Madi and history would attest to that. Acholi were brought to Kit following the fall of Idi Amin and most of them did not want to be repatriated back to Uganda and now they want to claim Ayi. During colonialism, we know how some of them were brought from Lira to come and work in Magwi and now they are striving to expand their territory.
My advise to those Madi who were working in Magwi county not to go back after being subjected to cold blood. They were hunted in broad day light. How can they subject their lives again to such insecurity.
It is time Madi get their own county wheather the government of EES like it or not or else Madi should just render their mass resignation to the government of EES.
The committee should consult the Lolubo, Bari who are the historical neighbours of Madi and use the resources in British archives as supporting documents to resolve the problem and shut those scrambing for Madi land forever.

Open letter to the Ex so called Ambassodor Angelo Voga Morgan. In reference to the Madi-Acholi Land conflict. ref made to the deformatory article written by you on 29 Oct 2011, Vol 6. issue 282.

''Condemnation of your fabricated numerous articles in the Citien News paper''

I hail from both communities, mixed parents.
Firstly i and my senior colleagues would like to register our disatisfaction and condemn your inciting acts and condemn it in all its forms in the strongest term possible. For its childish in a way that a former ambossodor acts in such a manner, one wonders how and who appointed you to represent us in the beginning. I am begining to think and conclude that the appointing authourity at the time were emensely stupid and wrong for giving such previlages that you attained and yet gained nothing from this more over at your age, what a shame!..

My conscience tells me that such issues are resolved in other ways like use of peaceful talks, justice process or judiciary but you chose the media simply because you luck integrity and ethics even within Madi community leave alone acholi's.
Am personally perturbed and think some thing should be wrong with your reasoning and handling of the whole situation. From my reliable sourecs, the so called conflicts were started by key politicians from Madi like Dr Anne Itto, Joseph Lagu, Vuga to mention but a few. We know all your intentions.

Additionally, let me remind you that since 1956, the boarders were clearly drawn and both communities know where there boundaries are and who are you to start making claims now?

Remember, we are watching and monitoring your acts well don't be surprise of the outcomes once the investigation team concludes its findings. We shall disown some of you and bring some of you to book.
Both communities are peace lovers, got inter married, share common values and i have never seen since child hood any conflint amongst themselves yet some of you were actually supporting and fighting us side by side during the war and were living a luxarious life style in exile in London, Uganda etc.

I would like to remind and caution you, that persons like Johnson Juma Okot were on the heat in the ''Jungle fighting to liberate this country'' and also taking care of the so called acclaimed villages from arabs and where were you?? you only appeared AFTER post CPA returning from exile. These all acholi territores, why has no claimed since then and why now, remember if found guilty you will pay a heavy price, i personally lost my grandy mum from the recent inncident. And i seek to follow up this to the ladder and want to see some of you booked. Please enjoy the peace brought and stop incitation'' of the public''. I do live and move in both villages, they are peaceful and the big questions why are we allowing people like you to cause harm to our society and who gives you the morale authority either?
I think enough of your rubbish has been heard and we can't accept any further false and un lawful fabrications of your numerous article that you post on the CITIEN NEWS PAPER every week, we have copies of it , I have personally think the government need to step in and censure this media paper for first of all allowing such deformatory information by a disgrantal ex- arab ambassodor whose intentions cause disunity in our society. And feel first Johnson Juma Okot to sue you for deformatory act so you understand how matters are handle Voga.

Lastly, i would like to applaud the fact finding committee formed by EES State assembly members. I think the government and governor did quite well and will continue to do so.
