YAMBIO, 14th December 2011 [Gurtong] - A 3 day workshop is underway at the Western Equatoria State (WES) Ministry of Education to review the State’s education policy.

The main aim of the workshop is to review the Education policy to streamline it with the South Sudan national policy of Education and also to be wholly inclusive of other new elements.

The State Minister of Education Mr. Adil Elia Senderi appreciated his Director’s efforts in coordinating the workshop.

Sendri said that, it’s a remarkable day for the Ministry of Education to review the education policy that is to guide the education system for the WES citizens.

“Having no policy is like going in a city imaginably, without knowing the map and its parts. The Ministry of Education has been operating without an education policy since 2005, for this Ministry to run properly it needs a policy,” Sendri said.

The Deputy Governor of WES Mr. Sapana Aboyi who was the guest of honour, congratulated the Ministry for developing the Education policy. He pointed that, "it’s important to have a mission to guide the education system hence verify which education standards are best for our children in Western Equatoria State."

The workshop brought together the WES Legislative Assembly members, His Lordship Bishop of ECS, Directors in the Education Ministry and representatives from organizations supporting Education in WES among others.
