JUBA, 15th December [Gurtong] – The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Mohamed Kamel Amr informed the media yesterday in Juba that his government will support South Sudan with immediate humanitarian aid for the victims of inter-communal fighting in Jonglei State.
“There is going to be a huge assistance including health, education, electricity and capacity building materials to Jonglei State.” He said
“You already know we have many Humanitarian Aid projects in South Sudan and we also established a new plan for aid provision as we are going to discuss with the government how to put the plan into action depending on the priorities.” he added.
“We have plans for agriculture, health, education and capacity building and we are ready to cooperate,” he elaborated.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister discussed among other things the bilateral relations between South Sudan and the government of Egypt on the Nile Waters. “The meeting discussed on the issues of the Nile Water and President Salva Kiir expressed his readiness to cooperate with the Egyptian government on the Nile water issue,” Mohamed said.
Amr travelled to Nairobi, Dar El-Salam, Kigali and Kinshasa for talks with top State officials on bilateral relations with regards to economic and developmental issues. The Government of South Sudan welcomed the support.
