WAU, 21st January 2012 [Gurtong] - The South Sudan Anti-Corruption Commission (SSACC) office in Western Bahr el Ghazal State (WBGS) last Wednesday concluded a 3 day training of 48 detectives focusing on accountability to deal with the correctional institutions in the State.

The three days training was conducted at the State Council of Ministerial Premise, peace hall in Wau.

Speaking to Gurtong the Director for Investigation Committee of the SSACC, Mr. Uchan Livingston said that, the Commission was granting training capabilities to members of the civil societies, religious and community leaders to deal with corruption allegations throughout the 10 States in the Republic South Sudan.

“We selected these officers from different sections and trained them on social accountability in order to fight corruption in the State,” Uchan said.

Uchan warned those still promoting corruption to understand that the Commission has set up mechanisms to fight against the embezzlement of public money.

He also warned corrupt administrators to face the law without favour if found guilty.

The Commission is planning to publish the anti-corruption posters and have daily media programs on Radio and Television to sensitize the public in fighting the vice.

The SSACC is an autonomous and impartial body corporate established under Section 147 of the Interim Constitution of Southern Sudan, 2005 as read with Section 6 of the Southern Sudan Anti-Corruption Act, 2009.
