JUBA, 27th January 2011 [Gurtong] - The Republic of South Sudan, (RSS) will soon set up its Embassy in Germany after the budget is approved, a government official told Gurtong last Wednesday.

Mr. Abel Moses, Director for Administration at the South Sudan Foreign Ministry explained that, the Ministry is waiting for the funds to be released for setting up the embassy.

According to Moses, lack of finances has affected the RSS in setting embassies in the countries that had recognized her independence.

“The delay is because there is no money yet to start and run the embassy. I will go with one of my colleagues as soon as the budget is out,” Abel added.

He said that there are at least 1,000 South Sudanese living in Germany.

The Foreign Ministry staff also revealed that RSS is yet to open 27 embassies in addition to 8 that are already set up.

“I would like to urge all South Sudanese in the country and Diaspora to be patient. We are still seven months old since gaining Independence. The government is working to ensure necessary sectors are operating well,” Abel said.
