Republic of South Sudan Disarmament, demobilisation and Reintegration Commission (RSSDDRC) has been working with different local and international NGOs since its institutionalization. United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), International Organization of migration (IOM) and UNDP are among some of the outstanding partners in the short history of DDR programme in the country.

RSSDDRC aims to ensure media outlets are involved in every step of the planning, implementation and daily activities of the DDR programme.

In light of the long tradition of collaboration with the mass media, the Commission invites all of you to DDR Commission Headquarters for hand-over ceremony in which the Acting Chairperson, Mr. Majur Mayor Machar will receive donations of office paraphernalia: Computers, Printers, Photocopiers, from IOM Country Director William Swing.

The acting Chairperson will also make statement or answer inquiries from the media on RSSDDRC working closely with UNICEF to facilitate the release of new group of children from former militia force in Western Bhar El Ghazal.

Background: The Republic of South Sudan Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Commission (RSSDDRC) is constitutionally mandated to undertake DDR programme, South Sudan Government owned and led initiative that supports demobilised ex-combatants, women associated with armed forces and children associated with armed forces to have new careers that will subsequently accelerate socio-economic development in the country. The RSSDDRC is leading the DDR programme in South Sudan with support from international partners such as UNDP, UNMISS, UNICEF, funding partners, as well as Government institutions: Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior, other technical line ministries and the Commissions.
