This is the second time such a huge number of political party members defect after the last year’s shutting down of the National Congress Party (NCP) office in Wau, Western Equatoria State (WES).
The new defectors were welcome by the SPLM state deputy chairperson Mr. Joseph Anthony Kpandu and other SPLM state officials including the chairpersons from two Counties of Jur River and Wau.
While addressing the new SPLM members, Anthony congratulated and assured them that the party’s aim is to promote the rights of the people and to respect the choice of the Republic of South Sudan in uniting and defending its territory from the north’s invasion.
“We are joining the SPLM party so that we can unite and fight against external aggressions on the people of South Sudan,” Charles Uchalla told the media.
Uchalla pointed out that other different political parties in South Sudan should follow suit in order to protect South Sudan’s territory.
“Everybody must put in mind that the current combination of political and military situation between Sudan and South Sudan needs unity; we cannot allow any inch of our land taken to the north,” he said.
Meanwhile, last Tuesday the SPLM concluded a two day workshop for members and all carders in Raga County. The workshop was officially conducted as part of orienting the new SPLM members in the county and was attended by 300 participants.
