WAU, 30 May 2012 [Gurtong] – The Justice and Peace Commission is conducting the two day that is being attended by over 100 participants from the church and the civil society.
The conference will deliberate on the role of the Church and the society in the making of the state’s new constitution.
It will evaluate the provisions for the rights of the civil society within the state constitution.
The Western Bahr el Ghazal State Governor Rizik Zackaria Hassan who opened the conference underscored the importance of the involvement of all stakeholders in the constitution making process.
“I urge the church and civil society to share information on the constitution with local communities. By so doing the constitution will reflect the aspirations of all state residents”, he said.
The conference has been supported by Trocaire and Caritas Italiana.
