JUBA, 30 May 2012 [Gurtong] - The workshop that commenced Tuesday draws participation from both government institutions and the private sector.
The chairperson of the organizing committee William Olami said the conference will deliberate on the national policy framework and strategic plan of the Ministry of Animal Resource and Fisheries for the period 2012-2025.
“It will also provide the stakeholders a forum for participatory planning, coordination and harmonisation of livestock policy regulatory framework, program and project coordination in the new republic", he added.
The Animal Resource and Fisheries Minister Dr Elia Lomuro said the strategic plan is aimed at creating clear plans and policies in the sector for proper accountability and transparency.
“If we have clear plans, we are transparent and accountable and we are free from corruption. By so doing, the donor community will have trust in us and will put their money in our ministries”, said Dr Lomuro.
Early this month Dr Lomuro said lack of clear policies in the sector remain a major challenge in the effective administration of the animal resources and fisheries in the country.
