RUMBEK, 14 July 2012 [Gurtong] - Speaking during the celebration of South Sudan’s first anniversary of independence on last Monday, Monydit urged the county residents to embrace peace in order to attain development.
He stated that his administration will not allow cattle rustlers and said that those involved in the practice will be arrested.
The Commissioner urged the residents in the county to cultivate their farms in readiness for planting this season.
“Sitting idle and talking aimless politics has brought hunger into our county and across Lakes State. We must fight hunger through cultivation”, he said.
The County spokesman Peter Makuei Tinyjok said that security along the Cueibet-Rumbek North boarder has reduced since the army was deployed in the area.
The Pakam Paramount Chief Kuclong Marial Wol urged the people to support President Salva Kiir’s fight against corruption in the country.
He said that independence has enabled the construction of feeder roads and improvement of security along the borders.
