RUMBEK, 11 August 2012 [Gurtong]- In the football finals, Upper Nile’s Malakal beat Rumbek 1-0 to take the main trophy.
The games were officially opened by the South Sudan Vice President Riek Machar on 1 August 2012.
In basketball, Rumbek Girls School took the winners cup while Juba was the runners up.
The volleyball trophy was taken by Wau Umbili Secondary School followed by Rumbek Senior Secondary in second place.
Juba Secondary managed the second position in the boy’s basketball where Warrap Boys emerged winners.
The handball winners’ cup was taken by Wau with Rumbek emerging second.
All ten states students who participated in the games joined in solidarity with the Rumbek community by cleaning the Rumbek hospital and the historic Deng Nhial primary School.
