Cabinet Approves 30 Million for 2014 Independence Anniversary Venue

The Cabinet has approved 30 million South Sudan Pounds to be used for the re-construction of a venue expected to be used for the 2014 South Sudan independence anniversary slated to be held in Rumbek, Lakes State.

JUBA, 17 November 2012 [Gurtong] -  “The Council has approved a budget of 30million South Sudanese Pounds for the project for infrastructure will continue to construct the required facility in Lakes State,” said the government spokesperson Dr Barnaba Marial.

He said that by the year 2014 the facility is expected to be ready to host the independence on the 9 of July 2014.

The cabinet last week reversed an earlier decision made that the next year independence anniversary will be held in Rumbek due to reasons that, be July 9th 2014 the facility will not be ready due to current status.
In another separate development, the council had also passed the approved 21 million SSP supplementary budgets of the Ministry of Interior for capacity building of the police and 18 million SSP for security sector.

These budgets will wait ratification by the parliament for the financial year 2013.
