Housing Ministry Orders Government Institutions To Register Buildings

Government institutions in Eastern Equatoria State have been requested to register with the state Ministry of Housing and Public Utilities to be included in the inventory and avoid creating conflict with the citizens in the residential areas.

TORIT, 23 December 2012 [Gurtong] –
State Housing Minister, Benaiah Benjamin Kitara said the institutions urged to register include; schools, heath facilities, learning institutions and key private institutions like banks and hotels including private high institutions of learning.

Those registered will be assigned a new legally assigned number starting December 2012.

The minister said the move is to avoid unnecessary disputes created by people in residential areas claiming ownership as most of these institutions are situated within residential areas.
The Acting Director of Housing Grato Okech Vilajo explained that the move will also help the inventory and keeping records of the government buildings as well as that of private investors for easy references and records.
The order is extended to all county headquarters and towns including payams and bomas.
