1.  Agriculture Project Officer

Program:  Building Responsibility for Delivery of Government Services Program  (BRIDGE)

Reports to:  Agriculture Project Specialist

Organizational Relationships

This position reports to the Agriculture Project Specialist and will coordinate with other Winrock staff and implementing partners.

Position Summary

The Agriculture Project officer is responsible for all administrative support functions of the BRIDGE program in Warrap State and assists the Agriculture Project Specialist in managing program activities.

Major Responsibilities Include:

• Developing and helping to expand, in collaboration with the GOSS agricultural staff and private sector suppliers, supply chains for agricultural inputs possibly to include animal traction, irrigation, and processing equipment, veterinary medicines, seed, and seedlings;

• Training of GOSS agricultural staff and private enterprises, including farming enterprises, in small enterprise financial management; and,

• Linking private enterprises with sources of credit, and training GOSS agricultural staff to link private Enterprises with sources of credit, including divising systems that will facilitate credit purchase of raw
   Materials for production of agricultural inputs as well as the agricultural inputs themselves and any other duties assigned by Winrock.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education 

Minimum of Diploma in Agriculture with at least 7 years of work experience in related fields. Or a Bachelor degree in Agriculture with minimum of 3 years of working experience

Work Experience

• Minimum three years experience in agri-business and/or advising others in sound agri-business practices.
• Computer literacy, including Word and Excel.
• Good interpersonal and oral and written communication skills in local languages and Arabic.
• A valid driver’s license qualifying the holder to operate motorbikes.

2. Agriculture Liaison Officer

This position reports to the Agriculture Project Specialist (ACDI) and will coordinate with other Winrock staff and implementing partners.

Position Summary

The Agriculture Liaison Officer is responsible for the Administrative support functions of the BRIDGE program in Warrap State and assists the Agriculture Project Specialist in managing program activities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Training state MAF/CAD extension officers to train farmers in appropriate technical crop production practices and FaaB concepts that will lead to significantly increased yields and incomes.

• Monitoring state MAF/CAD extension officers’ work and crop production performance by farmer partners to ensure that skills communicated by state MAF/CAD extension agents during training are properly applied.

•  Training State Ministry/CAD extension Officers to address production-related problems with low-cost solutions.

• Training State Ministry/CAD extension officers to collect production and income-related data.

• Training of State Ministry/CAD extension officers on rainfall data collections and management.

• Training of State Ministry/CAD extension officers on crop post harvest loss handling and management.

• Any other duties assigned by the Sudan BRIDGE Ag- Project Specialist/Team Leader.

• 75% time of this position will be spending in the field.

Position Requirements

Education: A technical school diploma in agriculture or horticulture.

Work Experience: 

• Minimum three years experience in the production of high potential crops (e.g., sorghum, vegetables, fruit trees, and sesame).

• Computer literacy, including Word and Excel and internet use.

• Good interpersonal and oral and written communication skills in local languages and Arabic.

• Training skills is advantage.

• Sound knowledge & Skills in controlling pest and diseases using organic methods.

•  A valid driver’s license qualifying the holder to operate motorbikes.
